WHAT WE DO
MODERN EU LAW EXPERTISE
Aius Legal is a highly specialized law firm offering services in the areas of competition law, trade defence and EU law litigation. The firm has extensive experience of acting before the Swedish Competition Authority, the European Commission (EC), the Court of Justice of the European Union,(CoJ), as well as before arbitral panels and domestic courts.
Founded in 2025 by Andreas Johansson, previously a partner at a first tier Swedish competition law practice, Aius combines the experience of a legacy firm with the agility of a start-up. Andreas has been listed as a “future leader of competition law” by Who’s Who Legal in each of the last four years.
Aius fully leverages the power of AI to reduce lead times and add client value. The combination of senior experience, deep expertise and the right use of AI tools enables Aius to provide high-quality legal services, without the need for large teams for most matter types.
Aius has a strong track record in seamlessly collaborating with other law firms, both as local counsel for Sweden within the firm’s areas of expertise, and by contributing subject-matter expertise and process experience from the EC and the CoJ to other Swedish law firms.
In other words, Aius offers direct, partner-level attention—ensuring responsiveness, efficiency, and a cost-effective delivery, with quality as its cornerstone.
OUR SERVICES
Competition Law
We advise clients in all areas of competition law, including merger control, anti-competitive agreements, abuse of dominance, state aid and Swedish FDI.
We have acted on many of the most significant antitrust cases before the Swedish Competition Authority over the last decade, as well as on large cartel investigations before the European Commission.
We have also secured numerous merger clearances before Swedish and EU authorities, and coordinated multi-jurisdictional merger filings with a wide range of local counsel.
In addition to representing clients before authorities and courts, we also assist companies with self-assessments, compliance trainings and ad hoc advice.
Trade Defence
We have extensive experience assisting clients in trade defence investigations before the European Commission and subsequent litigation before the EU courts. On anti-dumping cases, we have assisted third country exporters, EU producers, as well as EU importers and users.
We have also assisted European companies subject to trade defence investigations in other large jurisdictions, such as China, Australia and Brazil, in collaboration with local counsel.
Regulatory
The European Union is adopting new and consequential legislation at a rapid pace.
At Aius, we take pride in following these developments closely, and provide clients with insightful legal advice on existing as well as upcoming EU regulations. Our experience in this field is wide and covers e.g.,
the EU emissions trading system (ETS);
the Renewable Energy Directive (RED);
packaging requirements (REACH);
the Digital Markets Act (DMA)
the Digital Services Act (DSA)
Unfair Trading Practices in the Agricultural Sector (UTP)
The Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)
Geographical indications and quality schemes (GI)
EU Litigation
& Arbitration
At Aius, we have significant real-world experience of acting before the EU courts in Luxembourg, both on preliminary reference cases on the interpretation of EU law and on direct actions concerning the annulment of EU Commission decisions. This experience spans the full range of competition law, trade law and EU regulatory.
Within international arbitration, we have experience litigating the competition law aspects in several high-profile gas disputes, as well as on cases concerning alleged abuse of dominance in the tech and retail sectors. We have particular expertise advising on the civil law consequences of competition law breaches in arbitral proceedings governed by Swedish law.
